This week is National FFA week. We will have an FFA Fun Fact every day this week to celebrate. You might be surprised by what you hear. We will also be wearing blue and gold on Friday, the official colors of the FFA.

Q: Which current NFL quarterback holds the highest FFA Degree and was a top four finalist in crop production?
A: Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. Allen was not only an FFA member in high school but a pretty successful one, he focused on the crop production of cantaloupe, cotton, and wheat. Other notable celebrities that were in FFA include: Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw and Former president Jimmy Carter.

SWIM CLUB

Due to the freezing weather we will be celebrating the Polar Plunge next week. We’ll let you know the date as soon as details are confirmed. Students must dress appropriately for the cold weather if they wish to watch this spectacle. Long trousers, coats, gloves and hats are advised.

7th & 8th grade bowling sign ups are still available in the office and will be in 7th grade lunch on Thursday.
Football sign-ups will be next Tuesday during 8th Grade Lunch in the Middle School Gym.
This week is National FFA week. We will be wearing blue and gold on Friday, the official colors of the FFA, to celebrate. Good luck to our FFA students who are participating in the contests this afternoon.
Our fun fact today is:
FFA no longer stands for Future Farmers of America; In 1988 it changed its name to The National FFA organization because there are lots of stem careers in agriculture, not just farming. You could be a future biologist, chemist, veterinarian or engineer and still be working in the agriculture industry.

FFA News:
We have some very exciting FFA News!
The Jr. High Conducts of Meetings team took first place, and received a gold ranking at regionals last night!
Team members included:
Lily M., Sarah C., Nolan M., Sofia C., Kylynn S., Elizabeth K., and Audrey A..
In Jr.High Public Speaking Rebekah L. took 2nd place and received a gold Ranking.
In addition to the competition last night Lily M. and Sofia C. qualified to represent our school in the State level Agriscience Fair for the Mars soil experiment that was conducted in the Agriscience 2 class this fall.
All will be advancing to the State level contest at Michigan State University on March 5th and 6th.
After announcements the winning team please come down to the lobby to present Mr. Ormsbee with their plaque and have it placed in the trophy case.
Absolutely awesome work guys!!!
Speaking of FFA:
This week is National FFA week. We will be wearing blue and gold tomorrow, which are, of course, the official colors of the FFA, in addition to our very own Marauder colors. Just a reminder that there is the Valentine’s Dance after school tomorrow. Parent pick up at 4:30pm out back in the bus parking lot. Tickets are $3 and will be available on Friday morning and at lunchtime.
As always no phones are permitted at the dance. There will be concessions so bring your money and anything else that you need out of your locker because you will not be able to go to lockers during the dance.

The FFA was founded in 1928 at the American royal livestock show in Kansas City, Missouri. The Ovid High school started their FFA chapter in 1934 with the Elsie High school following suit in 1936. The two merged to form one FFA chapter in 1966.
