And now it’s time for Manic Mystery Monday so pop your thinking caps on and teachers dial 1420 when you have heard the entire question and your class has an answer:
Question: Which US president made Thanksgiving a national holiday?
Answer: Abraham Lincoln
Class: Collins
Note: Before Lincoln, in 1789 President George Washington proclaimed the first Thanksgiving under the new Constitution on Thursday, November 26. From that point forward Thanksgiving dates and months varied, with celebrations in February (1795) and April (1815). Until President Abraham Lincoln had declared Thanksgiving a national holiday on the last Thursday in November in 1863 and tradition dictated that it be celebrated on the last Thursday of that month.
Have a marvelous Monday everybody!
